Book Blogger Love-A-Thon || Late to the Party!

Hey, everyone! I'm so excited to be participating in the 2014 Book Blogger Love-A-Thon. Now, as I mentioned in the title, I'm definitely late to the party and if joining in late says anything about the kind of person I am... I'm a little bit all over the place. Better late the never!

If you don't know what the Love-A-Thon is it's basically going to be a two day long (one and half for me *oops*) series of mini-challenges and super fun love-y times! It's put on by the lovely Katelyn and Alexa and I highly, highly suggest you check out their blogs and Love-A-Thon posts to join in on the fun. I'm so in awe at all that they've put together. The official schedule is here and it's just blowing me away with excitement.

Alright, so since I suck and joined in late, I've already missed the first two challenges and the interview. However, do not fret my friends because right before your eyes I intend to become a super hero and do all of those things in this one magical post. *exciting super hero theme music* So, let's just jump right into it.

The first part of the Love-A-Thon was an interview swap portion. However, Katelyn and Alexa are so on the ball that they have a pre-made interview for lame-os like me. So, prepare to learn all sorts of exciting fun facts about me!
  1. How did you come up with your blog name?

Honestly, my blog name is so ridiculous. I'm just a silly kind of person and I wanted something that obviously had to do with books but wasn't feeling

    über

creative at the time. So, I wanted to just cut to the chase and literally just said "Ok, let's read." I figured it was perfect because it's just.. I don't know. It's just very me, I think.
  2. What genre/subject matter do you read and review most on your blog?

I'm generally drawn to the YA distopian/creepy books. I feel obligated to say distopian even though that's not actually true. I love Divergent, but I've never read The Hunger Games Series or most of the popular distopians that everyone's currently raving about. I'd say I'm very into creepy books like Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children (I also want to read the Mara Dyer series, but have yet to do so) which sucks because I'm a huge scaredy cat! I've also never been a big fan of contemporary (although, that doesn't stop me from wanting to read Fangirl.)
  3. Name the 3 books you're excited for in 2014!

Since I'm a little bit new to the whole book blogging/internet book community, my obsession with new releases and hardcore reading is just getting started. I was immensely excited when Hollow City came out even though A. I hadn't even read the first book at that point and B. I haven't read Hollow City yet. Ugh, does anyone else's fingers always want to type Holly City? Like what the heck is Holly City?! Hahaha.
Anyways! In preparation for this question, I did some hunting to find more books that I'm now very, very excited about. I found this book called Fiendish by Brenna Yovanoff . The cover looks really great and based on the 5 GoodReads reviews it already has, it looks like it's going to be right up my alley. Another book with a gorgeous and intriguing cover that I'm only just discovering is The Here and Now by Ann Brashares (yes, the same Brashares who wrote The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series.) Based only on the amazing reputation this author has in my book, and the fact that this book is a time travel, romance. It looks like I'm going to want this book the day it comes out, even with my distaste for contemporary!
Releases: August 14 and April 8
  4. Where in the world are you blogging from?

I live in the exciting land up North East Ohio. The Cleveland area isn't something you can really find a lot to write about. So, here's a more specific vision for you. I blog almost every post, without fail, from the comfort of my bed with my laptop on my lap. In fact, that's how I come to you writing this very post.
  5. Tell us -- how did you get into blogging in the first place?

I had a book blog way, way, way back in the day when I was only a little Freshman in high school. In fact, that might have still been in my middle school days. Regardless, I had a book blog for a few months back when I didn't know what I was doing. Now, here I am a nineteen year old with this brand new book blog AND I still don't know what I'm doing. So, to be quite honest, not much has changed other than my knowledge of html and the fact that I can now buy books on my own (debatebly not a good thing.)
  6. Apart from reading, what other hobbies/interests do you have?

I've done musical theater since the age of four. Unfortunately, when I graduated high school I had to stop taking theater classes at the place which had become my second home. I haven't really been active in theater since then, but I'm hoping to get back into things. I do sing constantly, however. I probably annoys my family to no end that I don't know how to stop singing, but at least I'm not tone-deaf!
  7. If you were stuck on a deserted island, which books would you bring with you?

I guess this question is basically asking what my favorite books are. I think at the moment, I can narrow this down to two books (even though it was SUPER DUPER hard.) I think I would bring Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs and Th1rteen R3asons Why by Jay Asher. I could read those books over and over and never grow tired of them.
  8. If you were stuck in some dangerous situation (like a fire, a sinking ship, a warzone), which book boy or girl would you want to come save you?

Oh, gosh. There are a lot of people I could choose for this question. Then again, I don't read that many books with incredibly strong characters that could survive and save me in a situation like that. However, my mind keeps repeating one name over and over. It's the cliche, obvious answer, but I would have to say... my baby, Four from Divergent. I'm only halfway through Insurgent, but I know that this man kicks some serious ass and could definitely pull me out of a situation like that with his big, strong arms.
  9. You're attending a party with your friends. Suddenly, the DJ changes the song and it's YOUR song -- what song would that be?

Ooh! I have a bad habit of saying "Oh, this is my jam!" so every single song that comes on the radio. But, to narrow things down a little I love a lot of generic top 40 pop music. My favorite artists are Lady Gaga or 5 Seconds of Summer. (I also have a serious Miley Cyrus addiction.) But, to only pick one song would be impossible, so here are three. It would be She Looks So Perfect by 5 Seconds of Summer, Pompeii by Bastille, or Wake Me Up by Avicii (LOVE that video.)
  10. What 3 movies would you love to have your favorite author write into books, or vice versa?

Oh, woah. I had to really think about this. It's super difficult because most of my favorite movies already are based on books! I came up with three movies that I seriously adore and can imagine being the most intense, thrilling books to read. It would have to be Inception, RENT, and I'm stealing one of Katelyn's The Breakfast Club.

Okay! There's the interview portion. It took way longer to fill out than I had anticipated. I hope you enjoyed it if you really sat and read all of that! Now, let's move onto the first Mini Challenge; Book Spine Poetry. This challenge was to make up a poem using only the spine of books. So, here's what I came up with!

Go Ask Alice,
Through The Looking-Glass.
Thirteen Reasons Why,
The Insiders, Wither.

It, uh.. It was a decent attempt, right? Meh. Yeah, we can just go with that. Moving on, we're almost caught up! The final challenge that I missed was Book Valentines. For this mini-challenge, I was meant to write a love letter/valentine to my book boyfriend/girlfriend. I decided to just write to the lovely book man I can't seem to get over; Four. So, just prepare yourselves for this one..

And, there you have that. I'm sorry for those of you I may have scarred with that little love note.. I'm not sure where all of those emotions came from. But, I know I'm not the only one who swoons over him. Don't deny it. Also, yes. We're on the level where I call him Toby.

Wow, and we're finally caught up! I hope I didn't overload you with all that information and excitement. If you would like to participate, I'm sure the Katelyn and Alexa would love that! You can sign up using the links in the beginning of this post or just join the conversation on Twitter with the hashtag #loveathon. I can't wait to meet a bunch of new bloggers and spread the love throughout this weekend!

I've finished just in time for the final mini-challenge of the day, so that should be up in just a second!
