Top Ten Beach Bag Books

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

Hi there! It's time for Top Ten Tuesday. In this week's edition of Top Ten Tuesday, I cheat and don't actually list ten things.. Shh, it'll be okay. This week's topic is "Top Ten Books That Should Be In Your Beach Bag or Ten Books That Will Be In My Beach Bag This Summer." I'm going sort of do both halves of that. I feel like the typical Summery beach books are contemporaries. I'm not the biggest contemporary fan, but that's not to say I don't enjoy them. I know there are a handful of Summery books that I will be taking in my beach bag this Summer (or would if I went to the beach), so I'll list those in the second half of this post. But, for right now I'm going to start off by telling you a few books I think you should read this Summer because I have read and enjoyed them while still getting a Summery vibe! Make sense? Probably not. Let's get started anyway.

BOOKS YOU SHOULD READ THIS SUMMER:

Nil by Lynne Matson - This book was released very recently and I read and reviewed it here on my blog. I gave this book 4 stars and definitely enjoyed it. Nil takes place mostly on a mysterious tropical island called Nil. Because of that, I feel like all the talk about beaches and water-- however dire the circumstances-- makes this is a good Summer book.

He Belongs With Me by Sarah Darlington - This book was released back in this March, so it's still relatively new. It also has a new cover now, but I prefer the one I featured here. It's a New Adult book that follows the stories of two twin girls. As far as I can remember, it takes place over the Summertime and it's so light and easy to read that I think it would be great for reading at the beach or pool.

The Fault In Our Stars by John Green - AHH! I can officially say that I have read (well.. listened to the audiobook of) The Fault In Our Stars! In my opinion this book is just so good and so quirky that it's a great book to read in the Summertime. Obviously it's not a super light read, but that doesn't mean you can't read it this season.

BOOKS I SHOULD READ THIS SUMMER:

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell - I mentioned this book and the following one in my new AND FIRST EVER BookTube video! If you haven't seen that yet, it can be found right HERE. While you're there.. hey, feel free to subscribe. ;) I've seen a lot of people finally reading this book lately-- probably because of Summer-- and I feel like I should be one of them. It's only a matter of time before I get this read. Hopefully that will be soon.

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins - Like I said, this is another book I mentioned in my BookTube video. I was sent this book from Becca a little while back, actually. I feel guilty for having not read it yet, but it's just hard for me to find the desire to read contemporaries. However, I plan on reading it this month (maybe next month) and I have heard SUCH good things that I know I'll like it.

The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han - Finally, I haven't talked about this book anywhere, but I am interested in reading it. My younger sister got this for a school project (she needed a book to read and isn't a big reader so I advised her to get a contemporary and mentioned this one) which basically means it's going to be mine when she finishes it. As unattractive as the boys on the cover are, I'm still interested in reading this book-- and hopefully the whole trilogy-- because they seem like the PERFECT Summer books.

  3. I agree with The Fault in Our Stars, especially since the movie is coming out! For people who haven't read it, it's time to get caught up. And I'm glad to hear you're finally joining the Anna and the French Kiss bandwagon - it really is a cute and swoon-worthy story. :)
