Wreck It Wednesdays || Week 6

Wreck It Wednesdays are a weekly feature here on my blog. They're inspired by Grav3yardGirl on YouTube's series by the same name. To catch up on my older posts in this series, you can click the link right HERE.

I'm starting to run out of pages! Well, not technically.. I'm running out of completed pages. When I started this series, I had had my Wreck This Journal for, like, 2 weeks at least. So, now that this has been going for a month and a half, I'm starting to have to actually complete pages again. Regardless, I've got three pages for today and I'm excited to share them with you. Okay? Alright.

The first page for this week is one that I've been working on for a while now. Whenever I get bored I whip this out and add to it. I've finally finished! The page says "Write one word over and over." I chose the word "acceptance" because it's a word that's just very important to me. And, to be honest, I do like the way it looks written down. So, here's that page!

The next page is a little less involved. It reads "Stand here. (Wipe your feet, jump up and down.)" I completed this a while ago, but it's still not really as good as I would like it to be. Maybe I'll add to it in the future to make the dirtiness more apparent. I guess I just don't get my shoes muddy enough! Here ya' go, though.

The third and final page for today's post is one that I really had fun doing. It says "Make a paper chain." You may or may not know that I'm kind of a perfectionist. This page was just fun for me to do because I did a color pattern and tried to make the chain links perfect and... yes. I just liked it.

Wreck It Wednesdays || Week 5

Hi! Alright, by now you probably know what Wreck It Wednesdays are all about. If you don't, it's a series I feature here on my blog. To learn more or see old posts from this series, you can just click right HERE. Okay? Alright. Perfect. Moving on. Let's get started!

Today's first page actually got a little messed up since I did it a while ago. The page reads "Trace the things in your bag (or pockets). Let the lines overlap." After completing this page, I did the page after it and glued things to it which made this page get messed up. :( Sad times. But, anwyay! Here's that page.

My next page for this week says "This page is a sign. What do you want it to say?" I ended up writing "CREATE" in big letters and decorating it with a tie dye type pattern. The entire page is done in crayon and I actually really liked the outcome. Here's a picture of it.

The third and final page of the week has a little story to go along with it. It says "Create a nonstop line." There's a place to start your line and then you basically just do whatever you want. I'm sure there are tons of ways I could have done this page, but there's a rhyme and reason to what I did. To this day, I've never been on a plane. The five or so family vacations I've ever been on have been within the country (and CA) and in the car. I remember a really long time ago my mom taught me about this thing she used to do where she would draw a line (like the one below) that didn't touch or stop on a notebook page. She had me make my own on a long car ride back then and then ever since I've made things like this every time we go somewhere far away. I just thought it was cool that this book brought up a memory like that.

Wreck It Wednesdays || Week 4

Hello, hello, hello! Your favorite Ok, Let's Read series is here again. It's time for Wreck It Wednesdays! If you'd like to catch up, see past wreck it posts, and find out what this series is all about you can head over to THIS link. This week is going to be a little bit different. Today's pages all have to be ripped out to be completed. Let's get started so you can see what I'm talking about!

The first page I'm going to show you today says "Make a paper airplane." It has the lines already on the page so I just folded it up, added a little bit of highlighter and tape and here's how it turned out!

Next we have "Wrap something with this page." Now, Wreck This Journal is the size of a typical book so the pages aren't really big enough to wrap much. I simple took a half-sized note card, wrapped it, and tied it off with some string. Here's the end result.

Lastly, we have "Tear Out. Crumple." Did anyone else used to do this in elementary school? When I was really young I remember taking a piece of notebook paper and crumpling it up over and over for an entire day until it felt like cloth. I used to think it was so interesting. What a weird kid.. Haha. Anyways, here's that page!

Wreck It Wednesdays || Week 03

Welcome back to Ok, Let's Read for my third edition of Wreck It Wednesdays! This is a series here on my blog where once a week I present three pages out of my Wreck This Journal by Kerri Smith to share my creative juices with all of you. Okay? Okay. Let's get into it, then.

Today's first page is one that I actually wasn't too happy with. I've been hesitant on showing this one for a while just because I just feel like it looks messy and almost unfinished. But, when you think about it.. that's the point of the whole journal! Wreck This Journal is good for me because I'm a bit of a perfectionist. Being pushed out of my comfort zone is exactly what the book is doing to me and it really is beneficial. The page reads "Tear strips. Rip it up!" and that's what I did. I colored each strip in an attempt to make it look even crazier.

There's a page in the journal with a small checklist. It tells you to draw on a specific handful of pages that you wouldn't otherwise draw on. Two of those pages are the ones I'm about to show to you. The first is just the title page. I just got creative and did whatever flew out of my fingers. This is how that turned out!

The other page that I colored on based on directions from the checklist page was this one. It says "Add your own page numbers. Starting here." Not only did I add page numbers to most of the pages in the journal, but I doodled on this page. There's actually a little story behind this one. The pattern that I drew on this page was one that I specifically remember doodling on graph paper in eighth grade math class. The lines on the graph paper made my circles and stars doodle super easy to make and it was just something I always did. I've always had a somewhat mathematical mind, so I think that's why I did that. The fact that it has to do with numbers kind of triggered that memory for me. Here's the page.

Wreck It Wednesdays || Week 02

Get excited, folks! It's time for Wreck It Wednesdays week number 2! It seemed like things went over pretty well last week, so I'm very excited to do this post. If you don't already know, this is a meme where I showcase three pages out of my Wreck This Journal by Kerri Smith just for your viewing pleasure. So, let's get right into the fun part!

The first page I'm going to show you isn't exactly a Monet. The page reads "Climb up high. Drop the journal." Since this is an action page more than an artistic page, I decided to draw tall things. I drew skyscrapers and turned the arrow into a house on a tall hill.

The second showcased page of the week is a little different as well. It says "Cover this page using only office supplies." Since my house isn't really full of office supplies, I just used what I had. I took sticky notes and created a pattern on the pages before going over them with tape. Kind of simple, but I really do like how this one turned out.

The final page of the week says "Scribble wildly, violently, with reckless abandon." So.. That's what I did. Pretty simply, I used pens, colored pencils, and crayons to scribble all over the page before using a blue high lighter to outline the words. I intended to scribble all over the other side in black and white (using only black pens and pencils), but I haven't gotten to that yet.

Wreck It Wednesdays || Week 01

Last week I mentioned that I would be starting a series called Wreck It Wednesdays and as promised, here it is! Every week I'll be showing you three finished pages I've selected out of my Wreck This Journal by Kerri Smith. So, let's get started!

My first showcased page of the week is going to be "Draw fat lines and thin pushing really hard with a pencil." This page took me a little while to finish, but as usual, I mindlessly completed it while watching YouTube videos and totally lost track of time.

The next page I'm going to show you isn't actually meant to be decorated, but I did it anyway. The page says "Crack the spine" so I went a little crazy and covered the page with cracks that you might see on an old porcelain doll. Obviously I also cracked the spine of the book, which hurt my soul a little bit.

Finally, I'm going to show you my "Fill this page with circles" page. I particularly loved doing this one because I used to doodle designs like this in class all through high school. This is probably my favorite page I've completed so far.

Wreck It Wednesdays || Introduction

I'm sure we've all heard of Wreck This Journal by Kerri Smith, but if you haven't I'll give you a quick description. Wreck This Journal in an interactive journal where each page has a task that will in some way help you to "wreck the journal." The end goal is to basically discover the beauty that's everywhere and open your eyes to a whole new idea of creativity. I love that!

I got my Wreck This Journal on January 14 and have been gradually filling out the pages ever since. I had wanted one for literally years, so I couldn't be more excited. While completing the journal, people tend to get very artsy.. and I am one of those people. Lots of Wreck This Journal art is shared online and I decided to jump right on that bandwagon by
using my blog!

Wreck It Wednesdays is actually a video series on YouTube created by the lovely beauty vlogger, grav3yardgirl. Since I love her and I love my Wreck This Journal, I decided to borrow the idea and present some of my pages to you guys! Obviously I can't physically show myself completing the pages as she sometimes does, but I'm going to do the next best thing. Every Wednesday, I'll be posting a "Wreck It Wednesday" post featuring 3 of my completed Wreck This Journal entries. Sound fun? I hope you're as excited about this as I am.
