Time for the fifth edition of Stacking the Shelves here on my blog. If you aren't aware, this is basically a weekly meme where you showcase all the books you've purchased or received that week. I only post this on the second and fourth Saturday of every month since I like to have more than a couple of books to show you guys. I'm actually trying to cut back a little, so I only have six books to show you this time. I know that might seem like a lot, but I've really been trying to cut back. Okay! With all that being said, I think we're ready to jump right into it. Enjoy!

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

No, I have not read this book yet. I know everyone in the world loves it and I know it's a classic, but historical fiction isn't exactly my favorite genre. However, I bought it! So, that means I plan on reading it eventually, right? Right.

The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman

Neil Gaiman and I have a weird relationship. I love him and secretly consider him one of my favorite authors... but, I haven't actually read any of his books. I've read excerpts of Coraline, but not the entire thing (because I don't own it.) But, that's one of my favorite movies of all time. So, I thought it was about time I acted like a normal human and actually owned and read a book by an author I know I already love.

Nil by Lynne Matson

I'm currently reading this, but I'm suffering through a weird reading slump thing right now. It's the worst reading slump I've ever experienced since starting my blog and I don't know what to do to fix it. If you have any tips, help! But, basically this book really interested me based on plot and Lynne Matson seemed so nice and fun on Twitter that I had to purchase this new release.

Love Letters to the Dead by Ava Dellaira

I'd been waiting for this book to come out for weeks now. I'm so, so, so excited to have it on my shelf finally and I can't wait to read it. I already know that I'm going to like this book. I love the idea of writing letters to all these cool dead people. Ahh, it just sounds awesome.

Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige

This book's been getting quite a bit of hype in my opinion. And, I heard from a handful of bloggers/vloggers that it's really good! I'm excited to read it especially since I know a little more about the story. It sounds like it's going to be more action packed than I had thought. I have high hopes for this book, so I hope it lives up to them.

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz

I first heard about this book from Ariel Bissett on YouTube. She talked about how fantastic it was quite a few times. It sounds really good and although it's contemporary (I think?) I'm really excited to read it. I also finally picked this up because I believe it has LGBT themes and I'm participating in LGBT Month this month! Link in the right sidebar for more information!

Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson

I was SO excited to purchase this book off of Book Outlet recently. Speak has been one of my favorite books of all time since about 7th grade. I read it in middle school as an assigned choice book (meaning we were given, like, 6 books and had to pick one) so I never actually owned it. And, now I do! I couldn't be more excited.

The Face on the Milk Carton by Caroline B. Cooney

For some reason, this book jumps out at me every time I'm at Barnes & Noble (I think it's this newer cover.) I never purchased it for whatever reason, but when I saw it majorly discounted on Book Outlet I jumped at the chance and bought it. I'm pretty excited to read this one despite the fact that it's shockingly short (and the font is HUGE.)

Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers

I've heard a surprising amount of good things about this book lately. I put it on my Spring TBR Top Ten Tuesday and almost half of the comments said that they loved this book. I feel like it's super adored, but for some reason not many people talk about it a lot? Regardless, I'm excited to have this and read it soon especially since I'm usually hesitant to pick up historical fiction.

Cress by Marissa Meyer

Do I even need to say anything about this? This is the third book in The Lunar Chronicles series, AKA the best series ever, and I'm SO EXCITED TO READ THIS. It's the book after next in my list of TBR's so I should be busting it out within the next week or so. I can't wait to find out how things pan out.

Of Posiden and Of Triton by Anna Banks

You may or may not know that I love anything having to do with mythology (I am dying to read the Percy Jackson books) so when I heard about this series it totally sparked my interest. To be completely honest, I don't know a whole bunch about these books other than that they are absolutely gorgeous. I'm obsessed with these covers and I cannot wait to read these.

Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac by Gabrielle Zevin

Ariel Bissett on YouTube has raved about this book quite a bit in the past. I saw it on Book Outlet and thought why not pick it up considering I really, really trust Ariel's opinions. Hopefully this book won't disappoint once I finally get the chance to pick it up.

Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli

Just like Speak, Stargirl was a favorite of mine when I was younger. I remember reading this book in 4th grade? Maybe, 5th? And, it was honestly my favorite book for SUCH a long time. If I were a BookTuber and did the Top Ten Influential Books Tag, this and Speak would for sure both be on it. These are books that changed my life in so many ways. However, I didn't own this one either! They had it on Book Outlet in HARDCOVER! (Which I didn't even know existed for some reason. I don't know what I thought, but I have never ever seen the hardback version of Stargirl. But, now I own it and it's gorgeous and perfect.) I can't wait to revisit this old favorite.

The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making by Catherynne M. Valente

I believe I first heard about this middle grade book from Jillian from BookishandNerdy on YouTube. She talked about this one and said she really enjoyed it. I don't know why but it was really calling to me. Do books call to you? Because they call to me. And, I didn't hang up (see what I did there?) I purchased it online and I am beyond excited to now have it on my bookshelf.

Unremembered by Jessica Brody

I know that the sequel to this, Unforgotten, was recently released. There was a ton of buzz about that and a lot of people were really excited. Since I had never even read the first one, I decided to jump on that bandwagon and pick it up! I really like these covers as well. The blurriness is totally alluring to me. Is that weird?

Everneath by Brodi Ashton

Lastly, I purchased this book. This is the first book in another series that I've heard a lot of people talk about. Again, I don't know much about this book either, but I know a lot of people really like this series and from what I've heard about this I feel like I would as well. That being said, I'm excited to venture into this series and see what it's all about!

Attachments by Rainbow Rowell

I received this book a little while back in my giveaway prize from Lindsay at The Broke Book Girls. I am SUPER excited to own another Rainbow Rowell book, despite the fact that I haven't actually read any yet. Is that weird? I don't think so.

The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness

I ordered this book from Amazon a week or two ago and cannot wait to read it. Like I say often, I have a feeling that I'm really going to enjoy this book and the rest of the trilogy. If you didn't know, this is the first book in The Chaos Walking Trilogy. 

A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness

I purchased this book in hardback from Amazon in the same order as The Knife of Never Letting Go. I don't know if it's uncommon for this book to be sold in hardback, but I couldn't for the life of me find it at the bookstores. And, if you didn't know, the hardback of this book is BEYOND gorgeous so I really just needed it.

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

This book was sent to me as a gift from my amazing, fabulous, wonderful book blogger best friend Becca at Pivot Book Reviews. She recently read and reviewed this book and LOVED it. As you may or may not know, I don't read enough contemporary, so perhaps this will remedy that.

The Archived by Victoria Schwab

I'd been wanting to get this book for a while now and finally had an excuse. This month, JesseTheReader from YouTube is hosting a read-a-long for this novel. It'll be super duper exciting and I can't wait to jump into this series (which is currently only a duology.) If you would like to join the read-a-long HERE is the link to the GoodReads group!

The Unbound by Victoria Schwab

Now, since The Archived is only a duology, I rationalized buying the second one in my mind before even reading the first. So, here's that. This is the sequel to The Archived, and to be quite honest that's literally all I can tell you about it.

Panic by Lauren Oliver

Finally, this book I only purchased two days ago. This is also a read-a-long this month and it's being hosted by a group of BookTubers calling themselves Booksplosion! It ends a little bit after the The Archived read-a-long ends, so I should be able to manage reading both by the time I'm meant to. From what I've heard, this book is actually really interesting me. It's time for my second Stacking the Shelves post! Today's haul is really creepy because it's my second one and today is February 22 (2.22 if you didn't realize.) And, the weirdest part? Two is my favorite/lucky number... Creeeeepy. Anyway, now that this Stacking the Shelves is posted, we're officially on my schedule! If you didn't see my last haul, I decided that I'll be making Stacking the Shelves posts on the second and fourth Saturday of each month to showcase the books I've bought or received over those two weeks and my thoughts on each book. Alright? Sound good? Okay.

Now, let's get the ball rolling!

The Darkest Minds by Alexanda Bracken

Everyone and their mother has read this series and raved about it. It's dystopian and sounds interesting, so I wanted to get it. I found it at K-Mart when they were having a clearance sale. Discounted hardback? Not going to pass that up.

The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien

Pretty self explanatory. I got this discounted from K-Mart as well and I really, really liked these new anniversary covers. I don't know how soon I'll dive into this, but eventually I intend to read this book and series.

Unwind by Neil Shusterman

This series peaked my interest very much. It's dystopian as well and has a bit of a creepy twist. I'm not sure why, but this series had been calling my name for a while now. So, I bought it!

The Diviners by Libba Bray

Since purchasing this book, I've heard it's a little scary/creepy. I'm not sure if this makes me more excited to read it or less. Regardless, I can't wait to jump into this book because I've heard lots of good things about it.

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

I mean.. It's Fangirl. Do I really need to explain? Everyone LOVES this book, so I jumped on the bandwagon and bought it. Plus, the color and the cover and the spine is all just beautiful. 

Scarlet by Marissa Meyer

If you saw my review on Cinder from the other day, you'd know how much I loved it and how excited I am to continue this series. It's something I've really enjoyed so far, so starting this book is something I cannot wait to do.

Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo

I heard that this series is fantastic and I also heard that it's sort of sci-fi-ish. Since starting The Lunar Chronicles, I've been intrigued by sci-fi in general. I'm interested in jumping into more books and series dealing with sci-fi themes and this was right up that alley.

Across the Universe by Beth Revis

For this book, you could essentially just read the description above because I had the exact same reasoning with this buy. It takes place in space (I think?) so I was excited to try this book out. Also, I've heard tons of people on BookTube rave about the series.

Oh my gosh, you guys. Here it is. My first ever haul/Stacking The Shelves post. Before I knew what this meme was, I was just going to do monthly hauls the way that BookTubers do them. However, that would be a lot of books in each post.. What I think I'm going to do from now on is bi-monthly Stacking the Shelves posts. On the second and fourth Saturday of each month expect to see a book haul here on my blog (assuming I stick to this properly. *fingers crossed*) Since I've bought a lot of books this month, I'm doing my February posts today and on 2.22 (Ironic because two is my favorite number and it will be my second Stacking the Shelves... I'm scared by the coincidence) and just splitting the haul in half. I hope all of that made sense... It probably didn't. Anyways;

Without further ado, here's my haul!

Player One by Douglas Coupland

I believe I heard about this book from Sanne at BooksAndQuills on YouTube. The plot really hooked me and I found that interesting since it wasn't something I would typically go for (being that it's an adult novel and not fantasy or paranormal.) She mentioned it a while back and it really peaked my interested, so I ordered it from The Book Depository. It was actually the first and only book I've ever ordered from there and I have yet to receive it. Do they always take this long to get the books to you? It's been at least two weeks and it's still on it's way!

The Uglies Series by Scott Westerfeld

I had been interested in this series for years and years. I can literally remember wanting to read this when I was in middle school, but I never did! I recently heard good things about it again and saw the entire box set on Amazon for a great deal. So, how could I pass that up? I have yet to read any of these.

Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

If you know anything about me, you'll know that I read this a few weeks ago and LOVED IT. If you want to see me rave about it in official review form, you can find the post right here. Guh, I just loved this book and I'm not sorry. GUH!

Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children; The Graphic Novel by Cassandra Jean

When I wrote that review I hadn't finished the graphic novel, yet. I've since finished off this graphic novel and wasn't really sure how I felt about it. I appreciate graphic novels very much, but I wouldn't recommend it as a substitute for the actual novel because a few characters that I really liked were left out as were certain minor plot points. Just little things like that. But, the illustrations are amazing!

Hollow City by Ransom Riggs

Considering how much I adored Miss Peregrine's, it shouldn't come as a shock that I went out and purchased the sequel immediately after finishing the first book. I haven't read Hollow City yet, but I intend to in the very near future.

Go Ask Alice by Beatrice Sparks as "Anonymous"

I have distinct memories of seeing classmates reading this book when I was in high school. I never read it myself, but when I saw it at Books-A-Million for a buy 2 get 1 free with the following two books, I just decided to go for it since it's always been a book on my radar.

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin

I have heard nothing but fantastic things about this book (and series.) I have a feeling that once I finally get around to reading this novel I'm going to love it, but until then I'm just excited to have another rubbery-feeling paperback. Does anyone else LOVE the rubbery-feeling paperbacks? Do you even know what I'm talking about? Just me? Alright.

Wither by Lauren Destefano

Just as with The Mara Dyer Series, I've heard great things about The Chemical Garden Series as well. I was going a little crazy the day I went to Books-A-Million and just grabbed basically every book I've ever heard good things about aaaaaand now I'm broke. Hahaha. But, seriously the cover of this book is really pretty and I can't wait to dive into this.

Cinder by Marissa Meyer

Oh, Cinder Cinder Cinder. It seems as though The Lunar Chronicles Series is the number one favorite among the book blogger community. I have heard everyone and their mother rave about these books and decided to jump on the bandwagon. I'm probably going to finish this book today and I'm already in love. Be looking out for a review!
